Advocates in Action: A Message from Advocates in Action

The State of Rhode Island has a huge deficit. While we understand that everyone needs to be willing to tighten their belts and do their part to help save money, we are concerned about possible cuts to the service system for Rhode Islanders who have a developmental disability.

We would like to thank the General Assembly for their support in the past. We also want to let them know how important the services are the people who have a developmental disability receive each day. People rely on these services for safety and also so that they cna be an active and contributing member of their community. This isn't about luxuries; it's about lives.

Advocates in Action conducted a series of interviews to ask people about their concerns around budget cuts. We prepared the following video to share with the General Assembly and others as they face some difficult budgetary decisions.

On June 18th, 2009, Advocates in Action sent copies of our video, "A Message from Advocates in Action" out on DVD to all members of the Rhode Island General Assembly.
